Since our blog is going to have baby-blogs, todays links would be of a good use for those who would preffer not to sit by their computers waiting for the BIG EVENT but go to some interesting places nearby, so:
Saint Erasmo is an old Christian basilica and necropolis. It is located five kilometers from Ohrid on the Ohrid - Struga freeway.
Sveti Naum is a monastery by the Ohrid Lake, 29 km south of the town of Ohrid near the Albanian border.
The church St. Bogorodica Zahumska is located on the shore of Lake Ohrid, on its eastern part around 20 km of the town of Ohrid near the village of Trpejca.
Located on the southwestern side of the hill surmounting Lake Ohrid is the church dedicated to St. John the Theologian - Kaneo. It is not certain when it was built and fresco painted. However, a document about the church property suggests that it was built before 1447.
St. Clement's monastery "St. Pantheleimon" is located at Plaosnik (known as Imaret during the Turks), southwards from the Samuel Fortress. This monastery is the oldest Slavic monument of culture.
A large church with compound foundations and a complex history, St Sophia is one of the most impressive medieval buildings in Ohrid.
